  • Book Description:

If you're one of the many Unix developers drawn to Mac OS X for its Unix core, you'll find yourself in surprisingly unfamiliar territory. Unix and Mac OS X are kissing cousins, but there are enough pitfalls and minefields in going from one to another that even a Unix guru can stumble, and most guides to Mac OS X are written for Mac aficionados. For a Unix developer, approaching Tiger from the Mac side is a bit like learning Russian by reading the Russian side of a Russian-English dictionary. Fortunately, O'Reilly has been the Unix authority for over 25 years, and in Mac OS X Tiger for Unix Geeks, that depth of understanding shows. This is the book for Mac command-line fans. Completely revised and updated to cover Mac OS X Tiger, this new edition helps you quickly and painlessly get acclimated with Tiger's familiar-yet foreign-Unix environment. Topics include:

  • Using the Terminal and understanding how it differs from an xterm
  • Using Directory Services, Open Directory (LDAP), and NetInfo
  • Compiling code with GCC 3
  • Library linking and porting Unix software
  • Creating and installing packages with Fink
  • Using DarwinPorts
  • Search through metadata with Spotlight's command-line utilities
  • Building the Darwin kernel
  • Running X Windows on top of Mac OS X, or better yet, run Mac OS X on a Windows machine with PearPC!
Mac OS X Tiger for Unix Geeks is the ideal survival guide for taming the Unix side of Tiger. If you're a Unix geek with an interest in Mac OS X, you'll find this clear, concise book invaluable.

The authors present a systematic development of the concurrent object-oriented agent programming language Guarded Definite Clauses (GDC). In contrast to other languages used in agent programming, like Java, Telescript, and Agent-TCL, this language is derived from the artificial intelligence programming tradition and emphasizes AI applications. The first part of the book is devoted to the principled evolution of the paradigm GDC; during the course of this evolution, the reader can also learn a lot about the history and the dramatically changing fortune, booms, and busts, of AI. In the second part, the paradigm is evaluated for application in various fields including parallel distributed search, distributed constraint solving, meta-interpretation, partial evaluation, and robotics and multi-agent systems. The book is written for students and professionals in agent programming or in AI programming in general.

Worth Buying, but don't rely on it

This book was a good overview, but be careful. There are numerous mistakes in the book and on the "practice" tests. Not that his book will even be worth anything since the PHP4 test will no longer be given in a month, but if it's any indicator of what the PHP5 book is like I recommend you use more then one source of study material. Certain topics that are in the test were very briefly covered in the book, but I had two or three questions on it. I would recommend the cert course through Zend if you are worried about your knowledge.

Bleach Musical Live Concert

Bleach Musical Wallpaper DownloadThe bleach musical is a condensed version of the Soul Society story arc, in which Ichigo Kurosaki and a group of friends head off to the otherworld to rescue their friend Rukia Kuchiki, a shinigami who is about to be executed by Soul Society authorities. During the course of their assault on the Court of Pure Souls, they become embroiled in a conspiracy that threatens to destroy both Rukia and the spirit world itself. In the bleach musical, everyone wear costumes to show their character. In fact, to my shock, some of the wear a costume resembles like World of Warcraft Mask and it is indeed shock the audience too. (Review by Wikipedia)

This bleach musical concert is ripped from the DVD. So expect the best quality from the bleach musical files. Some people asked is this bleach worth watching this concert? If you are true Bleach fan, this is the bleach concert that you should not miss out. I already watched it and found out besides showing some pretty chicks play as Rukia and Inuoe, the songs that they sing during the play also good. Recommended.

* Studio: O'Reilly Media, Inc.

Book Description:

The term "peer-to-peer" has come to be applied to networks that expect end users to contribute their own files, computing time, or other resources to some shared project. Even more interesting than the systems' technical underpinnings are their socially disruptive potential: in various ways they return content, choice, and control to ordinary users. While this book is mostly about the technical promise of peer-to-peer, we also talk about its exciting social promise. Communities have been forming on the Internet for a long time, but they have been limited by the flat interactive qualities of email and Network newsgroups. People can exchange recommendations and ideas over these media, but have great difficulty commenting on each other's postings, structuring information, performing searches, or creating summaries. If tools provided ways to organize information intelligently, and if each person could serve up his or her own data and retrieve others' data, the possibilities for collaboration would take off. Peer-to-peer technologies along with metadata could enhance almost any group of people who share an interest--technical, cultural, political, medical, you name it. This book presents the goals that drive the developers of the best-known peer-to-peer systems, the problems they've faced, and the technical solutions they've found. Learn here the essentials of peer-to-peer from leaders of the field:

  • Nelson Minar and Marc Hedlund of target="new">Popular Power, on a history of peer-to-peer
  • Clay Shirky of acceleratorgroup, on where peer-to-peer is likely to be headed
  • Tim O'Reilly of O'Reilly & Associates, on redefining the public's perceptions
  • Dan Bricklin, cocreator of Visicalc, on harvesting information from end-users
  • David Anderson of SETI@home, on how SETI@Home created the world's largest computer
  • Jeremie Miller of Jabber, on the Internet as a collection of conversations
  • Gene Kan of Gnutella and GoneSilent.com, on lessons from Gnutella for peer-to-peer technologies
  • Adam Langley of Freenet, on Freenet's present and upcoming architecture
  • Alan Brown of Red Rover, on a deliberately low-tech content distribution system
  • Marc Waldman, Lorrie Cranor, and Avi Rubin of AT&T Labs, on the Publius project and trust in distributed systems
  • Roger Dingledine, Michael J. Freedman, and David Molnar of Free Haven, on resource allocation and accountability in distributed systems
  • Rael Dornfest of O'Reilly Network and Dan Brickley of ILRT/RDF Web, on metadata
  • Theodore Hong of Freenet, on performance
  • Richard Lethin of Reputation Technologies, on how reputation can be built online
  • Jon Udell of BYTE and Nimisha Asthagiri and Walter Tuvell of Groove Networks, on security
  • Brandon Wiley of Freenet, on gateways between peer-to-peer systems
You'll find information on the latest and greatest systems as well as upcoming efforts in this book.

Frank Miller 300 Comic Book REPOST BEST QUALITY

Frank Miller 300 Comic Book REPOST BEST QUALITY
5 Issues | cbr format | 80 Mb

300 is a graphic novel, written and illustrated by Frank Miller with painted colors by Lynn Varley. It depicts the Battle of Thermopylae and the events leading up to it from the perspective of Leonidas, king of Sparta. The comic was particularly inspired by the 1962 film, The 300 Spartans, a movie that Miller watched as a young boy.

Every page of the comic was illustrated as a double-page spread. When the series was gathered into hardcover form, the individual pages were twice as wide as a normal comic. Miller's art style for this project was similar to his Sin City work, although the addition of color is an obvious difference.

Soon we can see 300 in live action movie.

In the mid-1970s, while publisher Leonard Mogel was in Paris to jump-start the French edition of National Lampoon, he discovered the French science-fantasy magazine Métal Hurlant which had debuted December 1974. The French title translates literally as “screaming metal.”

When Mogel licensed the American version, he chose to rename it, and Heavy Metal began in the United States on April, 1977 as a glossy, slick full-color monthly. Initially, it displayed translations of graphic stories originally published in Métal Hurlant, including work by Enki Bilal, Jean Giraud (also known as Moebius), Phillippe Druillet and Phillippe Caza. The magazine later ran Stefano Tamburini and Tanino Liberatore's ultra-violent.

8 issues | CBZ/CBR | 99 MB

Danger Girl is an American comic book series created by J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell. The comic features a group of busty, scantily-clad secret agents led by a Connery-esque mentor. The comic was actually a spoof type spy/action stories, with the Danger Girls being a send-up of the Bond Girls. Unlike the Bond Girls, the Danger Girls were, in fact, the center of the series, with their “mentor” being more of a decoy.
